Well, I have finally been able to catch up a bit on the Belle Gibson saga. The 60 Minutes interview was naturally incredibly awkward, but I was pleased to see that the journalist conducting the interview asked her some straight-forward questions and refused to accept b.s. answers. This is what all journalists should have done right from the start, and I hope that this is learning lesson for all those in the media about credulous reporting of miracle cancer cures. Naturally, Belle Gibson is still lying and I am convinced she simply does not have the character to be a truthful and honest person. I am also pleased to see that Belle Gibson will finally face some real consequences of her lies in the Australian courts.
One final thought: to all the journalists out there who still might believe that Belle was simply misled by some quack doctors, go and see if there is a correlation between Belle's announcement of her cancer spreading to her kidneys, spleen and uterus and app sales in the following days. I bet you will find a big one.
Well if anything good has come from this, it is that the media will start asking for more proof of people's claims before jumping on board their story.
ReplyDeleteAre you laying this blog to rest?
Not belle related but very interesting:

Even after all I have read regarding alt med, it still never ceases to amaze me that someone would do something so dangerous as to put a baby on a liquid diet and starve it half to death. And over eczema?
DeleteBtw, our pineapple lady got a question on FB yesterday:
ReplyDeleteQ. Hi Candy Back in April you stated that you were collating and your medical records relating to your cancer and you were going to post them. Can you point me to where these are? I can't seem to find them. Thanks.
A. Hey Steven [smile emoticon] As I've mentioned before I've been told not to post my medical records online. I'm currently working on my website and having a report issued to post on there. These are all lengthy processes which take time. [smile emoticon] [heart emoticon]
What a surprise!
Hmm I'd like to know the difference between 'website' and 'online' lol
DeleteI cannot think of reason as to why she has been told not to post her medical records. Obviously there would need to be some redactions, but her entire business is built around the state of her health.
DeleteIf she cannot post her medical records then she has absolutely no right to continue on with her public claim that she cured her cancer using the pineapple diet.
Candy has just posted a link to an article on the 16 benefits of eating pineapples. Preparing for a new marketing campaign, not sure???
ReplyDeletePotentially another sad case...
ReplyDeletehttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-3173212/Newlywed-shuns-chemotherapy-CARROTS-vows-beat-cancer-alternative-therapies-trying-baby-doctors-warn-s-no-evidence-work.html
Was just about to post the link to that, RKB. So, so scary to read that. Breast cancer in younger women tends to be more aggressive so all this time, her cancer has probably been growing and spreading. And she is relying on a home testing kit to see if it's working. So sad for her. Trying for a baby when you probably have a hormone-receptive cancer is also a bit like pointing a loaded gun at your head. I really really hope someone talks some sense into her before it is too late (if it isn't already).
DeleteJust another thing on the above- this is her fundraising link:http://www.gofundme.com/o7noh8
DeleteI am not sure exactly what the therapy is that she is undergoing (it is not very clear) but it sounds like it's some form of vitamin C therapy. I also see from the updates on the page that the ultimate aim is to raise £60000 to send her to the Hope4Cancer institute in Mexico. That basically subjects patients to a load of unproven quack treatments. I am just shocked that with all the information on the internet etc that people still believe this rubbish and that a young woman who may have had a good chance of survival has now refused treatment for 15 months and is slowly killing herself. Dear God, I hope she sees sense ASAP.
This is so very sad and I hope that this woman gets the real medical help she needs. These cases almost all follow the same narrative: the patient does quackery for a time, raises and borrows money and goes to Mexico, and sadly returns in very back shape and dies not much later at a UK hospital. I have complete sympathy for Alex Wynn as I could only imagine the extreme shock of what she is going through. Not only is she very sick, but her life plans of having a family were going to be ruined. Since she made her cancer and her "treatment" a public issue by going to the media, I will be following her case here in the future.
DeleteCall me a cynic but people who publicize their "cancer" via the Daily Mail seem suspect to me. Remember this is how Candy got her start.
DeleteOne example that makes me suspicious...she just started a Twitter account that only has a couple of tweets, directing people to her gofundme. She doesn't seem to have any personal friends on there, either. This is not how the average young person "does" Twitter, as far as I know.
DeleteVery odd.

From Candice's FB:
ReplyDeleteDonna McAtamany: I've just been diagnosed with incurable cancer of my lung, it's on my spine bone and they say I need some radiotherapy to shrink the tumour to prevent paralysis , i will be receiving that next week, ive been given 5 years like you did Candice, I'm already on my fruit smoothies and plan to do it the same way as you did, my gut tells me this is right along with lots of love, spirituality and light exercise , thanks for the massive inspiration , brought me so much hope and light , much love to you xox
A later comment, it seems like she decided to reject radiation:
I just got diagnosed with cancer on July 17th and introduced brutally to the uncaring fast acting world of the nuclear medical oncology team pushing straight away to radiate ... I went online looking for natural cures, I found you and Chris video. It was a godsend, my sanity , I watch it anytime I need inspiration and strength when the pressure of the oncologist got too much at times , the tactics they resort to using to convince you are sad.Im now on the nori program with Mark thanks to you getting the right help and support .So thanks for the link to him, couldn't have made the connection without you.your truly an amazing person, like Chris says, don't feed the trolls and let them drain you, only give your positive time to the ones who are grateful, thankful, believers coming at you with love and hope, just like me. Thank you so much for this , Love & Light and all things bright to you sweet lady
Well, there you go, this is someone who believed Candice's fake sob story and is rejecting treatment based on an imaginary terminal cancer cure story...
So, so sad.
DeleteThat is absolutely heartbreaking. If Candice ever comes here (I know she does sometimes), then I hope she understands that the reason we are against what she does is because it truly is a matter of life and death. I pray that this woman is overcome by the pressure of doctors and that she gets proper medical care.
Deleteoh dear ... Candice wake up and tell this woman not to shun her best opportunity to fight for life

ReplyDeleteI am glad that mainstream medical professionals are really stepping up and confronting this problem. It is clear to me that whatever it is that doctors say to dissuade people from doing these therapies is not all that successful. I do sometimes read the blogs of people who are "fighting their cancer naturally" and they all have one thing in common: the patients felt that the their doctors either were not listening to them initially when they knew something was wrong, or that their doctors "gave up on them" once the cancer was terminal.
ReplyDeletewell, here is another one... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-3282663/Woman-41-advanced-breast-cancer-REFUSES-chemotherapy-favour-drinking-urine-homoeopathy-psychic-surgeon-try-cure-herself.html

My doctor advised me exercise and diet are key and told me a few exercises to do and to go low on the red meat. I've practically cut out salt and meat from my diet now and i try to run about a mile a day.

I was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
ReplyDeleteliver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC there website is (ultimatelifeclinic. com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
